This week Luke's speech therapist did some evaluation testing. He hadn't been tested in over a year and it's time to reaccess goals and such. So I watched on the webcam and though I hate watching him being tested. Even now, after all the tests I've observed, I still get tense watching testing. But it proved to be pretty entertaining.
One part of the test was looking at three pictures and choosing which two go together. One grouping was a swimming pool, a swimsuit, and a car. Now Luke is very excited about our trip to the beach which is very soon. So when asked which two go together he says, "the car and the ocean." Kristin corrects, "That's a swimming pool." He says, "the car and the pool". She asks him why they go together and he says, "You get in your car and drive to the ocean."
Another grouping was a pair of pants, a jacket, and a toothbrush. He choose the pants and the toothbrush and when asked why said, "You put on your pajamas and brush your teeth."
From a group of a ball, blocks, and a sweater, he chose the sweater and the ball. He explained why saying, "You put on your sweater (demonstrating the motions with his arms in front of him) and catch the ball (demonstrating a similar arm position for catching)."
And when he saw the group of the letter C, the letter M, and the number 3, he chose 3 and C. When asked why he said, "You do a C like this (demonstrating how you draw it) and a 3 like this (demonstrating drawing a 3)."
I was pretty amazed at his logical answers or at least logical to him.
